James Avery “Jimmy” Braswell, Jr., 85 of Petersburg, died Friday, April 23, 2004. Mr. Braswell was born in Pine Level, NC. He was the son of the late J.A. Braswell, Sr. and Myrtie Price Braswell. Mr. Braswell was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lucille Braswell. Mr. Braswell was a civil service retiree having served as an estimator at Fort Lee for 23 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and prior to entering the Army was employed by Rountree Pontiac, Master Chevrolet and Ted Curry Motors. Mr. Braswell has 60 years of service as a Mason in the Powhatan Starke Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M. of Petersburg. Survivors include a daughter, Brenda F. Wiggers of Petersburg, a son, Ty Braswell and his wife, Susan of Pacific Palisades, CA., a sister, Ruth B. Childress of Smithfield, NC., two granddaughters, Susan M. Pergola and Cynthia L. Foster of Titusville, FL., one grandson, Tre M. Braswell of Pacific Palisades, CA., three great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank two devoted health care providers and close family friends, Mrs. Jardell Harris and Mr. Joseph Graves both of Petersburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, April 26, 2004 in the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Blandford Cemetery. A Masonic Service will be held 6:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Family will receive friends after service until 8:00 PM.
