Junius Brownley Cox, Jr. passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Junius Brownley & Audrey Williams Cox and a brother, Thomas David Cox. Brownley was a graduate of Waverly High School, Class of 1950, served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953, assistant cashier at the Bank of Waverly from 1954-1958, was employed by Farm Credit from 1959 to 1988 where he retired as president. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and gardener. He was a member of Waverly United Methodist Church, the Arrington Fishing Club, the Waverly Poker Club, and was a proud founding member of the Nottoway Outlaws Hunt Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gwendolyn J. Cox, sons: Brownley Franklin Cox (Tammy) of Chesterfield, and Rexwood Ashby Cox (Susan) of Suffolk, grandchildren: Olivia, Nicholas, Ashley, and Dixie Cox, brother: Paul Daniel Cox, and numerous cousins nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, June 22, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wakefield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday at Waverly United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Waverly Rescue Squad or the Waverly United Methodist Church.
