David Columbus Belcher, Jr., 74, of Matoaca, passed away Thursday, April 01, 2004 at his residence. He was born in Petersburg, a son of the late David C. and Jennie Butler Belcher. He was retired with forty years of service with Brown & Williamson Tobbaco. Mr. Belcher loved to hunt and was a lifelong member of the Sappony Creek Hunt Club in Dinwiddie County. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Elaine Harris; a sister, Gladys Lee Andrews; and a brother, Richard Earl Belcher. He is survived by two sons, David C. Belcher, III and Mike E. Belcher, Sr.; five grandchildren, Regina Monile, Rebecca Webb, Tammy Woods, Brian Taylor, and Michael E. Belcher, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Mae Rochelle, Clarice Christine Lufsey, Rose Kathleen Wolfrey, Shirley Levelle Shepperson, Judith Carolyn McClellan, and Mary Louise Elder Ford; brothers, Edward Woodrow Belcher and Vernon Edgar Belcher; and a devoted friend, Kathleen Kenney. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2004 at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
