Ozell Edward Ard, Jr., 75 of Charles City, died November 17, 2009 in MCV Hospital, Richmond. Mr. Ard was a retired clerk from the U. S. Postal System, a retired Sr. Chief Petty Officer with the U. S. Naval Reserve, a member of the Fleet Naval Reserve and a graduate of VCU. He was born in Hopewell, Va. Mr. Ard was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Mason Ard, his brother Stephen Clyde Ard. Surviving are three sons, Thomas Edward Ard & wife Donna of Chester, William Herbert Ard & wife Theresa of Katy, Tx., Robert Conrad Ard of Elkins, WV., his father, Ozell Edward Ard, Sr. of Hopewell, 11 grandchildren, four sisters, Ruth A. Alford of Myrtle Beach, SC., Carolyn A. Williams & husband Paul of Arden, NC, Jean A. Bennett of New Martinsville, WV., Norma A. Jessup & husband Haywood of Dinwiddie, a brother, Robert Ard of Hopewell, many nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, November 20, 2009 from 7-8:30 P. M. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with .Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery.
