Clyde Elwood Cummins, Jr., 84, of Colonial Heights, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at McGuire VA Medical Center. Born in Colonial Heights, he was the son of the late Clyde Elwood and Ada Uzell Cummins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jane Skelton Cummins and a brother, Wallace Edward Cummins. Mr. Cummins was a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy. Following his military service, he worked as a millwright at Hercules until his retirement. He was a dedicated member of American Legion Post 284 for 46 years. Clyde served terms as Post Adjutant and Post Commander. For many years he served as Post Athletic Officer. His love for baseball was exemplified through his commitment to 20 years of coaching Colonial Heights little league teams. He is survived by his children, Donna Cummins Beuter and husband, Bill, Richard Cummins, and Kimberly Cummins Taylor and husband, Troy; grandchildren, Brandie Cummins Marshall and husband, Christopher, Timothy William Beuter and wife, Emily, Elizabeth Beuter Patterson and husband, Tracy, Katie Leigh Taylor, Sean Cummins, Darron Cummins, and Meghan Cummins; great-grandchildren, Brandon Marshall, Colin Marshall, Christen Marshall, Aidan Patterson and Mackenzie Jane Patterson; sister, Alice Aaron Cummins. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 13th, at Blandford Cemetery with The Reverend Larry House officiating. Condolences may be registered at
