Walter Edward Ward, Jr., 61, of Sentinel Lane, Chester, died Sunday, February 22, 2004 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Midland, MI and had made his home in this area for several years. He was a Sgt. in the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Services performed, was a member of the Petersburg Bowling Association serving as a Board Member, was a former supervisor with Virginia Power and was presently employed with the Oaklawn Bowling Alley. Mr. Ward was the son of the late Walter Edward Ward, Sr and Dolina Rebecca Burton Ward.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Anne Scott Ward of Chester, one daughter, Jessica Han, 2 grandchildren, Andrew and Leah Han, all of Springfield, VA and one brother, Larry A. Ward of Clarksville, TN. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 24, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Willie Cromer, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chesterfield County.
