Patrick Henry Booth, Jr. 89, died Sunday, August 8, 2010 after a period of declining health. A life-long resident of Petersburg, VA he was the son of Carolyn Darden and P.H. Booth, Sr. He is survived by his cousins Leslie (Betsy) Booth of Petersburg, Mary Spencer Sonneborn of Charlotte, NC, Joseph B. Prince, IV and wife, Anne Y. Prince of Midlothian, Wilson Randolph Prince of Midlothian and J. Buckner Prince and his wife, Erin of Bumpass, VA, Mary Randolph Prince and her husband, Joel Kendall of New York City. Pat is also survived by his childhood friend, Billy Beville, and four kind loving companions and caretakers whose company greatly enhanced his later years, Wilson and Bucky Prince, John Morris and Dylan Youngblood. Pat attended Petersburg schools and graduated from Hamden-Sydney College where he was a member of Chi Phi fraternity. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, during World War II, and was happily stationed in Hawaii for three years. He often said this experience helped develop his life-long passion for plant life and gardening. A man of many interests, he was also enthralled with grand opera and Chinese Art. He was an active member of Washington Street United Methodist Church which he loved. A visitation will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Petersburg, VA., Friday, August 13, 2010 from 6:30 â?? 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Street United Methodist Church, the Petersburg/Colonial Heights S.P.C.A., Richard Bland College, Preservation Virginia, or a charity of your choice.
