Jackson J. Rollins, Jr. age 86, went to be with his Lord at his home in Prince George County, VA Wednesday, January 6, 2010 Born in Smithfield on July 4, 1923 he was the son of the late Jackson J. Rollins, Sr. and Madeline Atkins Rollins. Mr. Rollins retired in 1980 after 30 years employment with Hercules, Inc. in Hopewell. He was a member of Claremont Baptist Church. Mr. Rollins was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps serving proudly in the European theatre during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lucille Toney Rollins a daughter, Jeanne Cofer and her husband Rea of Prince George; sons, James Rollins of SC, William Rollins and his wife, Gale of AK, and Jerry Lee Rollins and his wife Sandi of SD; sisters, Betty R. Myza of TX, Sally Ruth Taylor of Prince George, and Rachael R. Joyce of Hopewell; a brother Charles Leonard Rollins of Claremont, six grandchildren, Jack, Jimmy, Trip, Kim, Karen, and Krystal; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Evelyn R. Weather and a great-grandson Jerry Neal Rollins.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m..
