Roy Lee Whirley, Jr., 73 of Petersburg, passed away April 2, 2008 at St. Maryâ??s Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer for two years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years Donna Ree Hicks Whirley, parents, Roy L. Whirley, Sr. and Annie Juanita Bennett Whirley and a step- son James Mitchell. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force for five years as a machinist. He was a member of Colonial Heights Moose Lodge and an auto mechanic for over fifty years and was formerly employed by Martin Oldsmobile prior to being employed by Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts for twenty years. He was a loving father and grandfather and loved NASCAR Racing. He is survived by his daughter, Linda W. Fuller and husband, Brian from Prince George Co., son, Steven L. Whirley and fiancé, Amanda Burton of Petersburg; grandson, Kory A. Fuller of Prince George Co., sisters, Mildred Keaton of Petersburg and Elsie Mills of Chesterfield; aunt, Doris Tudor and husband, Sid of Matoaca; loyal cousin, Aubrey â??Buggieâ? Whirley of Petersburg; special friend, Ollie Poarch; sister-in-law, Wanda Hicks Cole and husband, Melvin of Macon, GA; devoted friends and neighbors, Linda and Dale Pittman of Petersburg; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
