Roy Miller Smith, Jr., 80, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at his home in Enon. He was born July 31, 1923 in Fordwick, VA, the son of the late Roy M. and Virginia V. Smith. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edith M. Smith and three children, Donald Smith, Nancy Washabaugh and her husband, Floyd (Chip), Steven Smith and his wife, Boni all of Chesterfield, five grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Smith, Kelly and Corey Washabaugh and Vicki Warnock, three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Dylan Washabaugh and Preston Warnock, five sisters, Katherine Lyle of Gladstone, VA, Jean Nessar, Nelson Wade, Faye Rife and Judy Grimm all of Staunton, VA, seventeen nieces and nephews. Roy had a deep love for refinishing antiques, woodworking and his ’49 Ford tractor. He was a Charter member of the Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Men’s Club, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Enon Optimist Club. He retired from Bechtel Power. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at the Chester Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Chester Chapel with the Rev. Michael Snider pastor of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
