Jr R. Morgan

John R. Morgan, Jr., age 60, of Chester, VA, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011. He was born in Fort Worth, TX, the son of LaVena McKinley Morgan and the late John R. Morgan, Sr. Mr. Morgan was also preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Morgan. He is survived by his loving wife Jane Morgan; children, Justin Morgan and wife Tina, Michelle Allen and husband Shannon; grandchildren, Dylan Morgan, Blake Allen, Avery Allen; mother, LaVena Morgan Parrott and husband Leonard; brother, Jerry Morgan and wife Diane, Jimmy Morgan and wife Cyndi; and numerous nieces and nephews. John served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam during the years of â??69 â??â??70. He also served as a manager for Dowell Schlumberger for over 30 years before retiring in Longview, TX. He was an active member of Christian Motorcyclists Association in Longview, TX. was an avid fisherman, golfer, member of the Colonial Heights Baptist Church and former member of the Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview. John was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He also loved the Lord. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. with services to follow on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chester chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
