Edward Roper â??Tedâ? Spain, Jr. 65, of Chesterfield Co., died Tuesday, December 18, 2007. He was a native of Petersburg and the son of the late Edward Roper Spain, Sr. and Vera Burton Spain. He was a retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. with 26 years of service, retired from Southside Regional Medical Center in the Maintenance Dept., and currently employed with Thacker Hardware. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, avid fly fisherman, loved American history and good with Math and trivia. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Wyatt Spain of Chesterfield Co.; son, Edward Preston Spain, Sr. and wife, Karen of Charles City, VA; two brothers, Gerald E. Spain and wife, Luella of Richmond and Barry H. Spain and wife, Joyce of Prince George; two grandsons, Edward Preston Spain, Jr. and Forrest Brendan Spain; five nieces, three nephews; one aunt, Alice Wynn Spain of Petersburg and a number of cousins and extended friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. Dale Gillis, pastor of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and the Rev. James Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park.
