Frank S. Merhout, Jr., 92, of Prince George County, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2005. A native of Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Frank Stephen and Albina Sebek Merhout. Mr. Merhout was born into a family with a farming occupation with several different farms where he worked along with developing an interest in watch repair. He eventually decided to pursue a career in jewelry sales and service and opened Merhout Jewelers in Petersburg. On December 22, 1996, he retired from the jewelry business and resumed the life of a gentleman farmer which he enjoyed until his passing. Mr. Merhout was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Gertrude Rott Merhout; sister, Mary Merhout; and brother, Joseph Merhout. He is survived by his son, James E. Merhout and wife, Penny; daughter, Rita Griffin and husband, Russell all of Prince George; grandchildren, Steve Merhout, Lori Evans, Eric Merhout, Adam Merhout, Kelly Filizola, Christopher Griffin, Christin Mizelle, and Marissa Merhout; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Annie Cacek of Dinwiddie; and brother, Jim Merhout of Palmetto, FL. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday, December 16, at The Church of the Sacred Heart, New Bohemia. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Building Fund, 4415 County Drive, Petersburg, VA 23805.
