Kirby Thompson Hart, Jr. died with grace and dignity Friday, April 10th, 2009 at Colonial Heights Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He lived life fully with great devotion to family and friends. As a beloved pediatrician for 50 years at the Petersburg Childrenâ??s Clinic, with Nurse Leola P. Jones, his right hand since day one, he gave unselfishly and untiringly to his â??childrenâ?? and their parents He will be greatly missed as he joins his precious wife George Anne Lewis Hart.
He is survived by his son, Kirby T. Hart, III, wife Carole; two grandsons, Jason T. Hart, Daniel C. Hart and his wife, Angelica. Niece, Rebecca M. Hart, Nephew, George E. Hart, Jr., and his wife Rita, their two children Jennifer H. Cashion, her husband Matt, and Brandon E. Hart. Brother in law, William S. Pate, his two sons, Brooks H. Pate, wife Kristen, and William S. Pate, Jr., wife Rose, and their son Kirby. Sister in law, Mrs. Harry F. Webb, Jr., niece, Anne Terrell Webb Fenessy, and husband J.D. Fenessy.
Dr. Hart was born in Goldsboro, NC, son of Kirby T. Hart and Jessine Brooks. He was a graduate of University of NC, Chapel Hill, Harvard Medical School, and served his residency at University Hospital Cleveland, Ohio, and completed it at MCV. He started his Medical career as an Army doctor at Ft. lee, VA, where he met his wife. Dr Hart was an avid golfer, a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Petersburg Rotary Club, and a Diplomat of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Blandford Cemetery, officiated by Dr. Dan Hale of Second Presbyterian Church. The family is being served by J.T.
