Richmond Thweatt Zehmer, Jr., 75, of Petersburg, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010. Born and raised in McKenney, VA, he was the son of the late Richmond T. Zehmer, Sr. and Elizabeth Rose Zehmer Myers. Mr. Zehmer attended Randolph-Macon College and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1957. A retired Virginia Department of Education employee, he was a member of St. Paulâ??s Episcopal Church, a former member of the Petersburg Rotary Club, and a devoted Virginia Tech sports fan. Mr. Zehmer is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Williams Zehmer; sons, Richmond Thweatt Zehmer, III and wife, Judy of Midlothian, George Cameron Zehmer of Petersburg, and Robert Bolling Zehmer and wife, Brooke of Glen Allen; grandchildren, Courtney Z. Hanak and husband, Nick, Carrie R. Zehmer, Margaret Elizabeth Zehmer, Ann Cameron Zehmer, Elizabeth Randolph Zehmer, and Robert Bolling Zehmer, Jr.; brother, Thomas Graves Zehmer and wife, Gina of Frisco, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 15th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paulâ??s Episcopal Church, 110 Union Street, Petersburg, with The Rev. Rick Greenwood, Rector, officiating. Interment will follow at Asbury Memorial Cemetery, McKenney, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund, P. O. Box 10307, Blacksburg, VA 24062-0307.
