Jr. W. Ellis

Lawrence W. Ellis Jr. (Larry), 77, of Chesterfield passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Retreat Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence W. Ellis Sr. and Blanche Seymour Ellis; a sister, Margaret Stamos, and a brother, Robert F. Ellis. He was born in Church Road, Dinwiddie County, Virginia.
Lawrence was a veteran of the United States Air Force and worked in the automotive business for many years. He also worked and retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections.
He is survived by sons, Melvyn D. Ellis and wife Sharon, and Lawrence W. Ellis III; three grandchildren, Stephanie L. Ellis, Jessica M. Ellis, and Rhonda D. Ellis. He is also survived by a close friend, Sylvia Howlett. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment with military honors will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
