Judith “Judy” Mears Hartbarger, 70, of Hopewell, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Born in Cape Charles, Virginia she is the daughter of the late Preston L. Mears and was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Chasity Hartbarger; and nephew, Joey Robinette. Judy retired from the Hopewell and Prince George Public School System after 25 years of service. She was a graduate of Philadelphia Bible College and went back to school and graduated from VA State College. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Church and attended Enon Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher most of her life. Judy loved spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Hartbarger; daughters, Denise Hartbarger, Robin Germanos and her husband, Mike; son, Doug Hartbarger; grandchildren; Lisa, David, Michael, Konner, Jake; mother, Gwendolyn Bowman Mears; brothers, Scott Mears and his wife, Nancy, Preston Mears; sister, Connie Robinette and her husband, Joe; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2015 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Enon Baptist Church, 13607 N. Enon Church Road, Chester, Va. 23836 with Pastor Michael Moore, officiating.
