Judith Shumaker Thomas

Judith "Judy" Shumaker Thomas, 82, of Chesterfield, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023.

Although born in the country, Judy was a city girl at heart. Whenever she would see the city lights at night, she would sing, "I love the night life, I want to boogie." Boogie on Mom, we love you!

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Garnett and Dorothy Shumaker; her husband, Julian Thomas; and her sister, Patricia Spivey.

Judy was a realtor for over 40 years and was also a member of Chester United Methodist Church. She loved the beach and city lights. Judy took care of her husband for 61 years and was a caring and selfless person. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Judy is survived by her son, David Thomas (Brenda); daughter, Lisa Bailey (Junior); grandchildren, Laura Yost (Josh), Megan Clarke (Kevin), Dana Such (Michael), Tyler Bailey (Kate), and Kaylyn Howard (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Reagan Clarke, Samuel Such, Lila Bailey, and Grant Howard; brothers, Michael Shumaker and Garnett (Bubba) Shumaker Jr.; sisters, Kathy Locke, Janice Jolly, Nan Hamilton, and Debra Owen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
