Judy Simmons

Judy Lane Simmons, 65, of Chester, Va. passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, Va. Ms. Simmons was born on April 20, 1944 in Harrisonburg, Va. and was the daughter of Helen R. Simmons and the late Thomas C. Simmons. She graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1962 and from Madison College (now James Madison University) in 1966, where she majored in home economics. In 1970 she received her dietetic degree from Madison College, and did her dietetic internship at Medical College of Virginia. She was employed at Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg, Va. as a registered dietitian. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, Va. Judy served her country in the Army Reserves for several years. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her life partner, Peggy T. Adams; a sister, Beverly S. Miller and brother-in-law, Bobby E. Miller; her aunts; and her cousins. Judy enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, writing poems, her family, and her many friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 31, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, Va. 23831. A graveside service will be held on Satuday, August 1, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesterfield Fire and EMS Cares Fund, P.O.
