With tear-filled eyes and aching hearts we say, "God welcomed another Angel into Heaven." On Friday, May 19, 2023, after a brief illness and being surrounded by love from her family, Julie Marie Chevalier Walton, 57, of Prince George County, peacefully left us to be with our Lord Jesus. She joins her parents, Edward and Gail Chevalier, in gaining her wings and rejoicing in God's presence.
Julie was born in upstate New York, but grew up in Hopewell. She graduated from Hopewell High School and attended ODU and John Tyler Community College where she received her degree in Architecture (Mechanical Engineering). Julie worked for Parker & Associates as an architect before coming to Prince George County as a building inspector. She worked in the office for 30 plus years and became Director of Community Development and Code Compliance.
Julie was a loving mother and devoted many hours to her son, especially watching him play baseball, soccer, and basketball. She enjoyed flower gardening, helping others, traveling, cruising, jigsaw puzzles, and going to the beach - any beach but especially Myrtle Beach, Edisto, and Duck.
Julie is survived by her son, Jonathan Walton; sister, Lori Chevalier; brother, John Chevalier and wife, Karen, of Texas; nephew, Joshua Chevalier and his wife, Kaylea and daughter, A.J., of Texas; niece, Meagan (Chevalier) Burks and her husband, Seth, of Missouri; cousins, Beverly Bohannon (Jay) and Bruce Fuhrmann (Toni), both of New Jersey; sister-in-law, Terrie Reed and husband, Jeff; ex-husband, Michael Walton; good friend, Ramona Tucker and her son, Tevin; and as well as lots of other good friends too numerous to mention. Also her furry companion and protector, Browning.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the CCU staff at CJW Hospital, and also to the staff of James River Cardiology.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Miles Ave & Norfolk St. The family will receive friends after the celebration in the fellowship hall.
