June Henry "Hank" Snyder, 85, of Hopewell, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and a brother. Hank served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Hopewell Police Department as a Lieutenant after 31 years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post #637 of Hopewell and the American Legion Post #146 of Hopewell. Hank loved golfing and spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Hank is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rachel Snyder; son, Ralph Snyder; daughter Debbie Snyder Tavenner and her husband, Jimmy; grandchildren, Rebekkah Snyder Mills and her husband, Nathan, Lyndsey Tavenner Pittman and her husband, Jeff, Ashley Tavenner; great-grandchildren, Titus, Abigail, Sydney, Brady; his sister, Florence McLeod; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday August 26, 2017 at Hank and Rachel’s residence. In Lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to American Lung Association 9702 Gayton Rd, # 110 Richmond, Virginia, VA 23238 in his honor.
