June Stafford Zink, 83, of Chesterfield died Saturday January 4, 2009 at The Dunlop House Assisted Living in Colonial Heights.
Mrs. Zink held several working positions throughout her life, her last position was with the Federal Government as an Equal Opportunity Counselor. June was born and raised in the Colonial Heights area. She was the daughter of the late Thomas James Stafford and Libbie Topinka Stafford.
After a working career June retired with her husband Ralph to the house they built on Woodpecker road. On their property they built dog kennels where they raised champion collies under the kennel name Shenmoor. June was very active in the dog community, often fostering dogs and volunteering for the collie club. June was very active as a legislative liaison for the Virginia Federation of Dog Clubs and Breeders starting in the late 1980â??s.
June is survived by her husband of 64 years Ralph Zink, by her daughter, Libby A. Pemberton, granddaughter Kelsie Stafford Welch, son in law, Matthew Morrissette and her brother Thomas J Stafford.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, January 9, 2009 at Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends at the Dunlop House assisted living beginning at 11:30 am in Colonial Heights.
