Karen Ruth Wray Teachey

Karen Ruth Wray Teachey, 75, of Colonial Heights, VA, departed this world for Heaven on June 1, 2022.
Her beloved husband, Kenneth Eugene Teachey, preceded her in death in 2019 after 44 years of marriage. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Kirk Teachey, of Prince George, VA, and Kevin Wray Teachey and wife, Ariana, and their son, Shepard, of Chester, VA.
Originally from Indiana, PA, Mrs. Teachey was born to Dr. Richard M. and Katharine Jane Wray and was the oldest of three children. She is survived by her brothers, Edward L. Wray, of Colonial Heights, and Richard M. Wray Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Hilton Head, SC.
After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master's degree in counseling education, she taught in the Colonial Heights public school system for 30+ years. During her final years as a teacher, she became passionate about fitness. Soon after retirement, Karen won and placed in several regional bodybuilding competitions. She brought that wealth of knowledge and experience into her role as a personal trainer at American Family Fitness in Colonial Heights, VA.
Throughout her lifetime, she impacted the lives and touched the hearts of her students, clients, and those who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at Cawson Street Church of Christ on Tuesday, June 7 at 11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
