Karen Scruggs "Kay" Vaughn

Karen Scruggs “Kay” Vaughn, 76, of Dinwiddie, died Monday, December 5, 2016. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and loyal friend. Born in Lynchburg, VA, Kay enjoyed tennis, dancing, reading, and socializing with friends. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College with a major in English. She enjoyed a short, but much loved career as a teacher before deciding to start a family. She was a stay at home mom who devoted all of her time to her children and loved every minute of it. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Nancy Scruggs, her sister, Langhorne Scruggs, her husband, Richard Vaughn, and her daughter-in-law, Mary Vaughn. She is survived by her sons, Rick Vaughn of Dinwiddie and Chris Vaughn (Lisa) of Shawboro, NC as well as three grandchildren, Vanessa, Matthew, and Lilly. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
