Karl Hayes

Karl Edward Hayes Sr., 73, of Disputanta, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer with the U.S. Navy. He worked for twenty years for Dominion Virginia Power, retiring as an Assistant Shift Supervisor. Mr. Hayes was an active outdoorsman who loved fishing, boating, and camping. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin E. Hayes Jr. and Lucy Hagopian Hayes. Mr. Hayes is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Virginia A. Hayes; sons, Karl E. Hayes Jr. and Melissa, Roy A. Hayes and wife Renita, and Brian K. Hayes and wife Trudy; grandchildren, Lindsey, Amanda, Blake, Meghan, Austin, Bradley, and Bryson; five great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Koch; and other loving family members. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Homes. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Broadway Baptist Church, with Dr. James Maggard and Rev. Jerry Davis officiating.
