Karl Eugene Ross

Karl Eugene "Gene" Ross, 86, of Petersburg, VA, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Born in Tyrone, PA, he was the son of the late Karl A. and Isabel Sellers Ross; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn B. Ross. Mr. Ross was a United States Army veteran having faithfully served his country from December of 1959 until August 1962. After being discharged from the Army, he went on to work and dedicate his life to Civil Service and retired after 30 years. He was a long time member of Christ & Grace Episcopal Church in Petersburg, where he sang in the choir and volutneered in the Petersburg Tourism Department leading many guided tours throughout historic Petersburg. He is survived by his two sons, Jeff Ross and wife, Beth and Troy Ross; and one grandson, Conner Ross. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Christ & Grace Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Mary Thorpe officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, Christ & Grace Episcopal Church or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Gene Ross.
