Katherine Louise Mungin

Katherine Louise Mungin, 79, of Petersburg, VA, went to glory on May 14, 2021. She was born and raised in Stoney Creek, VA. She was the daughter of the late Anthony Shands and Edna Blake. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Willie Mungin Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Michael B. Mungin and Robert M. Mungin and his wife Monica Mungin, all of Petersburg, VA; grandchildren, Fa Seandria Mungin, Kadijah Mungin, Thailer Brown, Deja Rasheed, and Remoir Mungin, all of Petersburg, and Mercedes Kates of Portsmouth, VA; five great grandchildren, Madison Thornton, King Reese, Donavan Brown-Williams of Petersburg, VA and Milton Richardson Jr. and Micah Richardson of Portsmouth, VA; two sisters, Orine Thorne (Frank) and Lillie Shands; one brother, Willie Shands, all of Petersburg, VA; and a stepsister, Anna White (Willie), of Stoney Creek, VA.
She was preceded in death by her sister Rose Mary Clanton, nephew Troy Clanton, niece, Edna Shands, and great grandson Joshua Mungin.
She was educated in the Stoney Creek, VA school district. She was a long time employee of Reynolds Metals where she retired and a longtime member of Third Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA.
She was blessed with a host of nieces and nephews with Rosetta Clanton, Dr. Thomas Clanton Jr., and Maureen Taylor (Anwar) being devoted, and neighbor Rose Turner. She has many great and great great nieces and nephews. All that truly knew her knows she loved The Young and The Restless, Pepsi, and her family.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Friday, May 21 at 11 AM, where family will receive friends from 10-11 AM. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
