Kathleen I. Gibbs, aged 95, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, peacefully at her home. She was born July 1, 1929, to Olen and Florene (Haffner) Thomson in Sparta, WI. She was raised in Tomah, WI, and graduated from a one year secretarial school in Milwaukee entering the workforce as a secretary in the insurance business. She met Onslow Gibbs when he was stationed at Camp McCoy, WI, while serving in the US Army. They were married on November 3, 1949. She retired as a general staff secretary from Fort Lee, VA. Kathleen was a life long devoted Christian and active member of the Bethia United Methodist Church attending weekly as long as she was physically able.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Olen and Florene Thomson; brother, Martin Thomson; her loving husband, Onslow Gibbs; daughters, Cheryl Gibbs and Connie Honeycutt; and son, Chris Gibbs.
She is survived by her brother, Clare Thomson (Helen); son, Craig Gibbs (Tammy); son-in-law, RD Honeycutt; daughter-in-law, Sarah Gibbs; grandchildren, Stephanie Wright (Chris), Heather Hodges, Chad Honeycutt, Dana Richey (Erik), Kelli Gibbs, David Gibbs (Elizabeth), Jessica Blake Williams (Wade), and Katie Mullins; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with funeral services being held directly after at 11:00 AM, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831, with Rev. James H. (Jay) Carey, Jr., officiating. Interment to follow immediately at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, S. Prince George, VA 23805.
