Kathleen Wall Rice

Kathleen Wall Rice “Kathy”, age 81, passed peacefully into heaven on July 1, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 7, 1935 in McComb, MS, the daughter of the late Fredrick Albert Wall and the late Julia Audelle Fenn Wall Peyton. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Benjamin Holt Rice of South Prince George, VA, her sister, Julia Faye Wall Campbell (Roland) of Memphis, TN, and her brother, Harry Douglas Peyton, Jr. (Susan) of Staunton, Va. She is also survived by her children: Dr. Benjamin Holt Rice, Jr. of Duluth, MN; Dr. Ann Copeland Rice of Mechanicsville, VA; Blair Elizabeth Rice Anderson (Robert Samuel) of Crozet, VA; Jonathan Holmes Rice of Charleston, SC; honorary son, Jerry Houpe of Orlando, FL. She is survived by five grandchildren: Sara Ruth Driskell, Robert Samuel Anderson II, Rachel Blair Anderson, Quincy Copeland Rice, Charlotte Caroline Naser. Kathy attended Mary Washington College and worked for her husband managing his office for many years before retirement. She was an excellent cook and prepared many wonderful holiday meals, which will always be remembered. Kathy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She extended her kindness and generosity of spirit to her neighbors, friends, community and church. She was a gentle sweet person to all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 201 Walnut Blvd, Petersburg, VA, 23805.
