Kathleen Owens Young

Kathleen Owens Young, 87, of Chester, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013. Born in Wilson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Cora Owens. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Wayne Young; and son-in-law, Michael Williamson. Mrs. Young served as a Deaconess and youth leader at Enon Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for over 60 years. She was assistant supervisor at F.W. Woolworth Department store and later retired from Hopewell High School as Cafeteria Manager. Her amazing devotion and love for her family made her an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Young is survived by two daughters, Kathy Kestner and her husband, Coy, and Donna Williamson; a son, Kenneth W. Young and his wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Jessica Williamson Finney and her husband, Sean, Christopher Slusser and his wife, Stacy, Charlie Slusser, Kevin Young, Justin Williamson and his wife, Kate, and Adam Young; great-grandchildren, Brandon Slusser, Addyson Finney, Payton Finney, and Hayden Finney; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all of her family members. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Enon Baptist Church, 13607 N. Enon Church Rd., Chester, VA 23836. Interment will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park.
