Kathryn Peebles Grant

Kathryn P. Grant, a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at the age of 91on February 16, 2016 at Wake Medical Center in Cary, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Walter Grant; her sons, Walter Jr. and Frankie; two brothers, Sidney and Freddie Peebles; two sisters, Ruby McClelland and Jane Smith. She is survived by two daughters; Kathryn (Sissy) Grant and Ellen Maultsby (Greg); grandchildren, Cindy Grant, Sarah Craig (Jack), Kris Grant (Shawn), Wayne Wicker, Jr., Jenny Kathryn Andreev (Andre); great grandchildren, Katlyn, Brandon, Dylan, Tyler, Tabitha, Emily Kathryn, Lucy Kathryn, Max; sisters, Florence Crowder, Ester Harris, Virginia Matthews Chavis, Pearl Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Brunswick County and graduated from Alberta High School. She devoted her life to her family and community and was an active member of Asbury Memorial Church. She spent many an hour helping with vacation bible school and fundraisers. She enjoyed working the election polls in the Town Hall of McKenney and retired from the U.S. Post Office after 22 years of service. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 20, at Asbury Memorial Methodist Church located in McKenney, Virginia. Interment will follow in Asbury Memorial Cemetery.
