Kathryn Mcivor Shaver

Kathryn McIvor Shaver, M.D., 69, of Petersburg, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018.
She is the daughter of Sylvia Horton McIvor and the late Roberts S. McIvor. She is also preceded in death by her brother, CDR Walter Roberts McIvor (Chaplain, U.S. Navy, retired).
Kathryn was a 1967 graduate of Dinwiddie High School; Emory & Henry College in 1972, VCU in 1980, and Eastern VA Medical School in 1984. She was a physician of internal medicine for 25 years in Petersburg, VA and Director of Social Services at Battlefield Park Nursing Home for five years.
She enjoyed doll house miniatures and crafts, creative writing, James River Writers Conferences, gardening, and assisting with Hurricane Katrina Relief. Kathryn was a strong, independent, and caring woman; she was empathetic and patient in her medical practice.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, John E. Shaver; daughter, Katelyn M. M. Shaver; sister-in-law, Suzanne T. McIvor; nephews, Matthew McIvor and Jonathan McIvor; sister-in-law, Lois S. Bynum; and cousin, Pat H. Peltier.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Rd., Petersburg VA 23803.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 215 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg VA 23803.
