Katie Howard Jones

Katie H. Jones, formerly of Hopewell and Covington, VA died on Monday, February 12, 2018 while a resident at Tyler’s Retreat at Ironbridge in Chester, VA., she was 86. Born Katy Lee Smith in Clifton Forge, VA on January 3, 1932, Katie was a laboratory technician most of her working life both in Hopewell and Covington. She and her husband, Howard J. (HJ) Jones were youth directors at Enon Baptist Church for several years and owned HJ’s Hot Dogs on Main Street in Covington. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Enon Baptist Church Youth Department, Chester, VA. The Reverend Bill Hartsfield from Temple Baptist Church in Covington, VA will preside at her funeral at Enon Baptist Church, 13607 N. Enon Church Rd., Chester, VA on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Visitation and viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Bermuda Memorial Park.
