Kay Fish Toombs, 67, of Prince George, VA passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018. Born in Coats, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Dolphus Fish, Sr. and Isabelle Godwin Fish; and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Joe Fish. Kay was a graduate of Coats High School, Chowan College, Virginia State University and lastly East Carolina University where she received her Master’s Degree. During her life, Kay worked at several places to include, the Crater Juvenile Detention Center (VA), Hopewell Social Services (VA), Craven Regional Medical Center (NC), Neuse Mental Health Center (NC), Wayne County Mental Health Center (NC), Regional Consultants, Caswell Center (NC), Wayne Memorial Hospital (NC) and most recently at District 19 where she worked in the mental health department and the Infant Intervention Program (VA). Kay loved her boys and grandchildren, and enjoyed being a “sports mom” to all of them. She was a special caregiver and loved all of her babies in the Infant Intervention Programs at District 19. Kay is survived by her loving husband, Larry Toombs; three sons, Justin Toombs and wife, Cassidy, Jeremy Toombs and wife, Sarah and Jordan Toombs and wife, Michelle; five grandchildren, Austin and Marissa Toombs and their mother, Inga Chandler, and Ashton, Turner and Perry Toombs; a brother, Timothy Fish; one sister, Janice Holder; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Livesay, officiating. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the funeral home.
