Kazuko Abe Williams

Kazuko "Kay" Abe Williams, 89, of Hopewell, passed away on January 30, 2025. Born and raised in Hokkaido, Japan, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, George Williams; her brother-in-law, Robert Williams (Kaye); and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Harold Williams; and her sister-in-law, Jean Williams.

After completing high school, Kay focused on her career, as a seamstress, within many clothing factories within the United States, as well as, overseas. Not only did she choose to be seamstress within her work, but she chose to do similar activities at home. She had a knack for sewing, crocheting, knitting, and other forms of crafts that brought her joy.

Kay was a woman of the Lord. She volunteered her time at many different churches in Missouri, such as Pine Street Baptist Church and worked within the nursery with children. She also worked at many different churches in Virginia, such as Lakemont Baptist Church (Petersburg), where she worked with Mission Friends for Sunday School and in the nursery; Dinwiddie Baptist, where she worked in the nursery and helped in the Kitchen; and Smyrna Baptist Church, where she was in the Women on Mission, Kitchen, Nursery.

When Kay and George attended Monumental Baptist Church - Petersburg, Kay worked in the kitchen and the nursery. At Unity Baptist Church, Liberty Baptist Church, and Bible Baptist Church she worked in the kitchen. Kay was a true helper of the Lord. She used her skills to help fellow Christians and others, showing just how present the Spirit of the Lord thrived in her heart.

She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, and she would always be sure that she kept her love straight and out of trouble. Therefore, helping her loved one make good choices that aided their family till the end.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Broadway Baptist Church, 301 N. 15th Ave, Hopewell Virginia.
