Keith J. Rost, M.D., died, Monday, May 30th at 4:30 p.m., following a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 70 years old. He was born in Berwyn, IL. He graduated with a BS from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1970. He attended The Chicago Medical School and received his M.D. in 1979. He interned at Loyola University Affiliated Hospitals 1979-1980. He did his residency in Family Practice at LaGrange Community Hospital from 1983 -1986. He was board certified in Family Practice. He served on active duty in the USAF Medical Corp from 1980 - 1983 and again from 1986 -2003. He retired from active duty in 2003 at the rank of Lt. Col. He met his future wife Sheila Hanrahan at Langley AFB in 1987. They married in 1989. He served in Indiana, Italy, Virginia, Saudi Arabia, England, Texas and Delaware. Following his retirement the family returned to VA. He then served as a civilian physician at the base clinics at Ft Lee and later Ft Eustis. He enjoyed traveling, working in his yard and following current events. He was preceded in death by his mother Elaine, father Herbert, and brother Randall. He is survived by his wife Sheila, son Eric, and grandchildren, Kayden and Adeline; also brothers William, Warren, Jonathan and Timothy and sisters, Mary Louise Noonan and Mary Ellen Griffin. The family will receive family and friends, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home 3050 W. Hundred Road Chester, VA 23831; where a service will be held, 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016. Interment will follow in Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, VA. Condolences may be registered at
