Sgt. 1st Class Kenneth C. Bunnell, U.S. Army, retired, of Hopewell, Virginia, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008 in John Randolph Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. Bunnell in 1933, his mother, Ella H. Bunnell in 1944, his brother, Harold in 2002 and wife, Virginia in 2004.
Ken served 22 years in the Army. After his retirement, he was employed by Strosnider Chevrolet and later associated with J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. His hobbies were flying, having a commercial pilot license, and was a FAA certified Aircraft Ground School Instructor. He also loved the Corvair automobile. He was a member of The Experimental
Aircraft Association, the Corvair Society of America and the Central Virginia Corvair Club. He is survived by three sisters, Larita Lesan of Kellerton, Iowa, Mary Ann Keim of Glendale, AZ, and Lola Hodge of Marne, Iowa, a sister-in-law, Mary Wolford of Three Churches, WVA, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, March 12, 2008 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Troy Kaichen, officiating. Interment , with military honors, will be in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George County, VA.
