Kenneth Edward Croft, Jr. "Ed Bob", passed away suddenly at his home on February 11, 2023, at the age of 65. Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Edward Croft Sr. and mother, Alice Marie Spady Croft; and brother, Thomas Croft. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cynthia Croft; mother-in-law, Patricia Williams; son, Curt Croft and daughter-in-law, Pauline Croft; daughter, Ashley Marie Barber and son-in-law, Josh Barber; and son, Charles Edward Croft; grandsons, Gunner and Asher Croft; sister, Carolyn Vaughan and brother-in-law, Hugh Vaughan; nieces, Anne-Marie Vaughan-Meer and Christine Maloney; along with two great nephews and a great niece.

Eddie was born February 24, 1957, in North Hampton County, Virginia. He graduated from Dinwiddie High School in 1976, which prepared him for his enrollment in The Fire Science Program at J. Sargeant Reynolds, where he excelled in his studies. He officially began his firefighter career at Petersburg Firehouse No. 4 on June 1, 1977. He served and protected the Petersburg region for over 36 years, eventually retiring from Petersburg Firehouse No. 5 on June 29, 2013.

Eddie was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, which included hiking and antiquing with his wife Cindy. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, dove hunting, and fishing with his boys and friends. He loved relaxing on the beach on family vacations, which began with his love for The Eastern Shore. He frequently extended a lending hand to many and often cared for family and friends. He relished in his role as a doting Papa to his grandsons. He was loved and respected by many. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son. The funeral service will take place on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with interment following at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please donate to the National Kidney Foundation in honor of Thomas Croft.
