Kenneth Nester

Kenneth W. Nester (December 4, 1953 - November 7, 2023), passed away after a brief and sudden illness. Kenneth was born in Radford, Virginia, to Robert and Ethel Nester. In 1973, he graduated from Dublin High School. After high school, he attended New River Community College and earned his Associates in Applied Science for Instrumentation Technology in 1975. After graduation, he worked for Allied Chemical, then in 1976, he went to work for Park 500, in Chester, Virginia, and worked there until his retirement, in 1999. He loved growing tomatoes, cats, a good hat, telling jokes, and most of all being PopPop. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Deborah Nester; his three children, Craig Nester (Juanita), Kendyl Gerard (Allen), and Katherine Palmer (Wes); and his six grandchildren, Bella Nester, Olivia Palmer, Eleanor Palmer, Michael Palmer, Joseph Gerard, and Rosalee Gerard. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 11am, at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, 11302 Merchants Hope Road, North Prince George, VA 23860. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Salvation Army in his memory.
