Kenneth E. Teachey

November 11, 1938 — July 21, 2019

Kenneth Eugene Teachey, was born on November 11, 1938 in Hopewell Virginia. He is the first born son to his parents the late George Kenneth Teachey and Isoland Mizelle Teachey. Kenneth Eugene Teachey was born again into Christ in baptism on 4/27/1955 by Preacher J. H. Blackman. He was a graduate of Thomas Dale High and later attended David Lipscomb University where he was enrolled for a year and then came home to start working for Reynolds Metals as a machine-press operator. He later began a barbering career at City Hall Barber shop in Hopewell, Virginia then later moved the business to Cavalier Square in Hopewell, Virginia. The majority of his 55 years as a barber was spent alongside his younger brother the late Joel Teachey and close friend Keith Hall at the current location of Broadway Barber Shop in Hopewell, Virginia. This partnership created a thriving business with many old customers made over the many years. Then in time as families grew new customers were made and they knew where to get a good hair cut or to fix a bad one. Kenneth Eugene Teachey was a devoted Christian and follower of Christ. He worshiped as a young single man in the Cawson Street Church of Christ. After meeting the love of his life and wife Karen Wray Teachey at the Cawson Street Church of Christ they later moved to Colonial Heights Virginia where they began worshipping at the Cameron Avenue Church of Christ in Colonial Heights Virginia. After the birth of Kenneth Kirk Teachey and Kevin Wray Teachey it was decided as a family to rejoin the Christian family where Kenneth and Karen first met at the Cawson St. Church of Christ. Upon Kenneth’s passing he is survived by: His wife of 44 years Karen Wray Teachey; of Colonial Heights, Virginia; Eldest son Kenneth Kirk Teachey of Prince George County, Virginia; Son Kevin Wray Teachey (Wife Ariana and their son Shepard) of Chester, Virginia; nieces Glenda and Kelly Teachey of Chester, Virginia; Niece Melissa Teachey and husband Jessie of Tennessee. In loving recognition of surviving family members: Lou Purdy of Richmond, Virginia and Diane McCarley of Nashville, Tennessee. Thank you to our Christian family and their support given to the Teachey family in their time of grief over the loss of Kenneth Eugene Teachey. You are greatly loved.
