Kilson Kaing Mckinney

It is with deep sadness that the family of KilSon McKinney must announce her passing at home with her family, on Sunday, November 27, 2016. KilSon was born on September 21, 1935, at 35 Inhyon-Dong, Chun-Ku, Seoul, South Korea. She was working at the post cafeteria in Camp Page, South Korea, where she met her future husband, Joe McKinney. They were married at the U.S. Embassy on December 21, 1961, with a civil ceremony at the Camp Page Chapel, on June 21, 1962. KilSon was a devoted member of The Lord Jesus Korean Church, located on Robious Road, Richmond, VA. She looked forward to Sunday mornings to attend church, until her declining health limited her attendance. She also looked forward to the morning hours for her daily prayers and the opportunity to open her business. She opened her hat business (Bonbon Imports) in July 1982. She loved the ability to interact with her customers on a daily basis. She was blessed to have the best customers a business owner could wish for and which enabled her to have a successful business, until her health problems prevented her from working. She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Joe McKinney, a son, William and his wife, Lisa, and two daughters, Lena and her husband Eddie Rigsby (deceased), and Altha, and her husband Todd Thomas, as well as two grandsons, Joseph Rigsby and Matthew Thomas. A visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at a later date.
