L. Maclin Wray

L. Maclin Wray, 90, of McKenney, VA, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his home. Born in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Henry Briggs and Lucy Hubbard Wray. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Whitmore Wray, a sister, Olive “Beth” Karel, and a brother, George Howard Wray. Mr. Wray was a graduate of Randolph-Macon College and a retired employee of Rochester Button Company with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church and McKenney Ruritan Club. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, he especially enjoyed rabbit hunting, and loved children and babies. Mr. Wray is survived by his wife, Shirley C. Wray; children, Howard Briggs Wray (Donna), Ronald Lynn Wray (Bertha), Katherine Whitmore Wray (Mary Kay Wilcoxson), and Kim Wray Dailey (Chris); grandchildren, Brian (Lauren), Jessica, and Jeffrey; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Colton; step-children, Betty Sue Cohen, Kenneth Webster, and Richard Webster, and their families. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, McKenney, VA with the Rev. Karen Workman officiating.
