Larry Keith Hall, Sr.

March 27, 1941 — December 7, 2024

Larry Keith Hall, Sr., of Hopewell, VA, entered his eternal rest on December 7, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

Larry, who was lovingly known as "Papaw" by his family, and "Booze" by his coworkers, will be missed by many. A hardworking man that dedicated 37 years to his career at Firestone, Larry was known for his work ethic and laid-back demeanor. When Larry wasn't working at Firestone, he was enjoying the sunshine while doing exterior painting. After his Firestone retirement, Larry worked at The Hopewell News.

Larry loved to host his family at his home for holiday parties. Some of the most memorable being his summer pool parties and Christmas gatherings. Larry would beam with pride to see all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren splashing in the pool and enjoying a meal together. All of his loved ones knew you couldn't leave Papaw's house hungry or thirsty. Grilling up Nathan's hot dogs during the summer, sharing his family size bag of Cheetos, or sharing a Coke or Gatorade were some of Papaw's favorite things.

A handsome man, Larry resembled the likes of NASCAR legend, Richard Petty. Larry never met a stranger and was often sporting a beaming smile. He had a great smile, but it made you wonder what he was up to. Larry's career at Firestone not only fulfilled his hardworking personality, but it also introduced him to his loving wife, Kathleen "Kathy". Larry and Kathy celebrated 27 wonderful years of marriage.

Larry is reunited in heaven with his mother, Mildred Lucille; and father, Woodrow Wilson Hall; mother-in-law, Mary Alice B. Mahon (who thought Kathy hit the jackpot when she and Larry married); and sister-in-law, Theresa M. Mahon.

He is also reunited with his beloved son-in-law, Billy Horne, Sr. Larry was also greeted by his beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Holly Berry.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy Hall; as well as, his children, Jeanette Horne, Zina Kendrick (Billy), Larry Keith Hall, Jr. (Ronda), and Andy Bradley (Stephanie). Larry is also survived by his brothers, Steve (Wilda) and Wilson Hall (Rhonda). Larry is also survived by his brother-in-law, Daniel T. Mahon (Aleta).

Larry also leaves behind his sweet Miniature Schnauzer, Tina Rae. His Miniature Schnauzers, Holly Berry and Tina Rae brought Larry so much joy.

He is also survived by his many grandchildren, Billy Horne, Jr. (Lindsey), Cassie Shelburne (Eddie), Catie Ellis (Sean), Maegan and Madelyn Kendrick, Lyndsey Bowling (Tyler), Seth Hall, and Connor and Cameron Bradley.

Larry was blessed with many great-grandchildren, whom he loved deeply. His great-grandchildren include Billy Horne III, Hyatt and Greenleigh Horne, Sloane and Sawyer Shelburne, Caitlyn, Avery-Cate, and Isaac Ellis, Elizabeth Kendrick, Bentley Smith, and Brantley and Asher Bowling.

Larry is survived by his nieces and nephews, Heather Hylton (David), Ryan Hall (Kimberly), Andrea Blair (Matthew), and Jason Hall (Tanya). Larry is survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Caden (Kelsey) and Titus Carr, Jaxon and Jesse Hylton, and Rylee, Brooklyn, and Bailey Hall.

Larry will be so missed by his family and friends. There will be a celebration of life, in the future, to celebrate the life of Larry Keith Hall, Sr.
