Larry Herbert Vaughan, 75, of Chesterfield County, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Herbert A. and Ruth Young Vaughan. Larry retired after 29 years of service as a police officer with Chesterfield County Police Department and was a member of the county’s first motorcycle patrol unit. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his beloved dog “Rocko.” Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Poarch Vaughan; children, Darrell H. Vaughan and wife, Bonnie, Sharon V. Mullins, Chris J. Vaughan and wife, Sheri, Stacey V. Reed and husband, Jerry, and Larry H. “Herbie” Vaughan, Jr. and wife, Cissy; grandchildren, Chuck, Rusty and D.J. Vaughan, David Turner, Alex and Nathan Vaughan, Hunter and Preston Reed, and Dillyn Vaughan; great-grandsons, Dylan Scheit, Bo and Bentley Turner; devoted sister, Geraldine V. Markham; devoted sister-in-law, Sandra P. Griffin, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Blandford Cemetery with Pastor Rodney Jenkins officiating.
