Laura Elizabeth Kolesar, 29, passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. Her life began on the beautiful spring day of April 26, 1989, in Petersburg, VA.
She was predeceased by her loving maternal grandfather, Edward Paul Moncol. Survivors include her husband Daniel Wehner Garrett, son Michael Liam Garrett, mother Elizabeth M. Laura was a graduate of Prince George High School and attended John Tyler Community College. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan and was often seen sporting the team colors. As a child, she spent countless days fishing with her late grandfather, his friends and her brother. As a young adult, she appreciated the company of senior citizens and enjoyed her work taking care of them, especially her grandfather.
While Laura was a loving daughter, sister, wife, granddaughter, aunt and niece, it was her role as mother to her sweet son Michael that brought her the most joy and sense of accomplishment. It is with a deep sense of comfort that her family can already see Laura’s generous and gentle soul manifested in him, even at his tender age of 6.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Medical Surgical Trauma ICU at Chippenham Hospital for their compassionate care of Laura in her last days.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Chester Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at the same Chapel on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Ray Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Merchant’s Hope Memorial Gardens in Prince George, VA, where Laura will be laid to rest alongside her beloved grandfather.
The family will be establishing an educational fund to benefit Laura’s son, Michael. Anyone interested in participating may notify a family member.
