Laura Massengill Taylor

Laura Massengill Taylor, 44, of McKenney, Virginia, passed away on December 29, 2017 at the home of her parents in Sutherland, Virginia. She was born September 4, 1973, in Norfolk, Virginia to W. Gerald and Juanita Massengill. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, William Henry and Ruth Massengill of Four Oaks, North Carolina, and Colonel Wesley and Nettie Mills of Chesapeake, Virginia. She is survived by her husband, David Taylor, and one son, Colton Taylor.

Also surviving are her mother and father, Juanita and W. Gerald Massengill of Sutherland; brothers, Alan W. Massengill and his wife, Patricia, and W. Kevin Massengill and his wife, Courtney; three nephews, Wesley Massengill, Colby Massengill, and Chase Massengill; one niece, Lori Massengill, and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Laura was a long time resident of Dinwiddie County, where she lived since 1979. She graduated from Dinwiddie Senior High School in 1992. She loved to cook and enjoyed attending her son’s baseball games. She also loved children and animals and spending time with her family.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Ocran United Methodist Church in Sutherland, Virginia, with Reverend Larry House and Pastor Carlisle Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
