Laura Dickinson Woehr, 89, of Hopewell, died Thursday, March 31, 2005 in John Randolph Medical Center. She was born in New York, the daughter of the late Floyd E. Dickinson and Anna Terpening Dickinson, and was the widow of Frederick A. Woehr, Sr. Mrs. Woehr was a faithful and very active member of First United Methodist Church in Hopewell where she was very active in numerous organizations within the church, She was a Hopewell school teacher for almost 40 years, a member of Hopewell retired teachers association, the Historic Hopewell Foundation, Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as chaplain for 25 years, member of Association for preservation of Virginia Antiquities for many years, a docent at Weston Manor for many years, member of Womans Club of Hopewell and the Tri-Cities Doll Club. Surviving are her daughter, Anne D. Royster and husband, John, a son, Frederick A. Woehr, Jr. and wife Anne, Seven grandchildren, Eric T. Royster & wife Jennifer of Harpers Ferry, WV., Laura Anne Moxley & husband Jeff of Henderson, NV., B. Scott Royster & wife Kelly of Petersburg, Va. Cheryl Anne Woehr of Alexandria, Va., J. Shannon Royster & wife Whitney of Chester, Kristin Smith & husband Adam of Lexington,VA. and Melissa Woehr of Boston, MA, twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:30-9:00 at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 2PM in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Willard Wash pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Historic Hopewell Foundation P. O.
