It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Laurie Ellen Kerber Brown. Laurie left us on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the age of 63. While she was originally from Mayfield Height, OH, she considered Chester, VA her home for the last 17 years. Laurie studied Liberal Arts at the University of Ohio and Kent State University. She was known as a hard worker and brilliant artist with a witty sense of humor, who loved her family dearly. She loved to paint, draw, garden, and spend time with her two dogs, Tater and Duncan. She was particularly talented with watercolors, and many of her paintings looked so life-like – it’s though you could reach out and grab the objects from the canvas. She also had a green thumb when it came to gardening and could tell you every plant, how they grew, and the best season to grow them in. She was the most loving mother, grandmother, and friend that anyone could ask for. Her children were her pride and joy and she supported them no matter what. For her, there was no sacrifice too big to ensure safety, wellbeing, and happiness of her children. She loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. Her laughs always ended with a long sigh and infectious smile, which we will always remember. The joy she brought extended into her professional life where she worked as an Administrative Assistant and Rental Coordinator in the construction industry. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Stephanie Helen Brown and Cody Sean Brown; her granddaughter, Dakota Louise Brown; and her sisters, Christine Munoz, Marcia Joseph, and Anita Schmidt-Kyanka. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Helen Ostapaw-Kerber and Elwyn Kerber. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 4:00pm at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service till 6:00pm. Memorial Donations may be sent to
