Lawrence David Katz

Lawrence David Katz, 68, of Hopewell, VA passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. Born at Fort Bragg, NC he was the son of the late Abraham David Katz and Charlene May Steindel. Mr. Katz was a 1971 graduate of Hopewell High School, a 1975 graduate of the University of Virginia and went to graduate school at VCU where he received his Masters Degree. He was an Employment Specialist for Henrico Area Mental Health & Developmental Services at Lakeside Center for 29 years. Mr. Katz enjoyed Tai Chi and Akido. Larry was a devoted son, brother, uncle and cousin who never met a stranger. His many friends were his extended family and will miss him dearly. Mr. Katz is survived by his brother, Jerome "Jerry" Katz and wife, Susan; a niece, Lauren E. Katz (Scott Rogers); one nephew, Alexander Katz (Emily Crossley); two great-nieces, Karsyn and Kambri Rogers; and many aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the United States and Israel. The family would like to thank all who were supportive during Larry's illness. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Brith Achim Cemetery. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
