Montemorra, Lawrence, 63, of Prince George County, died August 1, 2010 after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Ann Manni Montemorra, and their daughter Lauren Ann Montemorra, his father Nicholas Montemorra, his sister Nancy Vogt; sister-in-law, Rosemary Mallory of Williamsburg and brother-in-law, Louis Manni of Texas; several nieces and nephews. He also was the son of the late Dolores Pettit Montemorra. Larry was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 18, 1946. He was a Commissioner of the Crater Youth Care Commission in Prince George County and was president of his own professional development business. During his lifetime teaching career, he was an instructor of military and civilian personnel at Fort Lee, VA, where his many honors included Distinguished Instructor of the Year in 1994. Before his retirement from civil service in 1999, he served as an Assistant for Total Quality Management Operations for the Commanding General and the Training Management Office at the U.S. Army Quartermaster School at Fort Lee. Concurrently, he was an adjunct faculty member for business and psychology courses at John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA; Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA; and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, VA; as well as an adjunct instructor for Central Texas College, Park College, Saint Leo College and others offering degree programs to civilians and soldiers stationed at Fort Lee. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970 to 1974, when he was a business psychology instructor in Karamursel, Turkey, for the European Division of City Colleges of Chicago, IL. After military service, he returned home to New York to teach business at Suffolk County Community College in Selden, Long Island. In 1977, he and his wife Barbara moved to Virginia after he accepted a Master teacher position with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Department of Justice, in Prince George County. His collegiate education included a Master of Education Degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI; Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Hofstra University, Long Island, NY; and an Associate Applied Arts Degree from Suffolk County Community College, Long Island, NY. A Mass of Resurrection will be held 10:00 am Friday, August 6, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prince George with Father Jay Wagner celebrant. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Burial will be held 1:00pm Friday at V.A. Veterans Cemetery in Amelia.
